  • Giclée (pronounced zhee-clay) is a fancy term for an inkjet printer on steroids. Humbly speaking, it's the most advanced printing method used to create high quality archival fine art prints.

The biggest difference from a standard inkjet print is that giclée printers use 8+ colors of pigment-based inks rather than dye-based inks that are found in lower-cost inkjets.

The specific printer in my home studio uses 11 ink colors and an additional Chroma Optimizer which allows for vibrant colors and beautiful gradients!

Pigment-based inks also have a longer lifespan: they can last anywhere from 100 - 200 years without significant fading.

  • Hahnemühle is a paper manufacturing company in the Relliehausen district of Dassel, Germany founded in 1584 (you read that right).

Simply put, they manufacture paper of unparalleled quality for artistic and graphic use.

Just as the quality of fine wine depends on the grapes, the quality of a print is a product of the paper it's printed on.

I tested my prints in over 30 different paper types and brands, and landed on two Hahnemüle that I consistently work with:
    • Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta
    • Hahnemühle Photo Rag Metallic

These two photo rag papers are made with 100% cotton and provide the best result for my artistic photography representation, and unparalleled archival quality.
